I’m gonna make this quick because I’m taking the day off and heading to the waterpark!

For some, that’s a scary thought because of dread putting on a bathing suit.  It just doesn’t have to be that way.  It really doesn’t.

If you just follow some basic steps you’ll be loving the way you like in your bathing suit.

I really break it down for you in my book, The Science of Getting Fit:  6 Proven Steps to Achieve Your Weight Loss & Fitness Goals.

But, let me give you 3 quick tips right now that will put you well on your way to fitting into your bathing suit this summer.

Bathing Suit Season Tip #1:

Avoid soft drinks, juices, cafe drinks and other drinks loaded with sugar like the plague.  These types of drinks are very high in calories – many of them have 2 servings per bottle totaling 200 – 300 calories!!

Bathing Suit Season Tip #2:

Record what you eat and drink.  You’ll be blown away at what you can consume over the course of the day without ever realizing it.

I just recently discovered my new favorite APP for my iPhone.  It’s My Daily Plate by Livestrong (as in Lance Armstrong’s company).  I’ve never seen a journaling program like this one before.  It’s got every food imaginable and every major resteraunt under the sun.  In less than a minute or two I can plug in what I ate.  It tracks my calories for the day and let’s me know how many I have left.  My girlfriend and I have had some laughs and HOLY SHIT! responses to some of the things we’ve looked up just for fun – that small Oreo Blizzard that’s always advertised, and we’ve all indulged in, has 700 calories in it!!!  That’s about 1/2 the calories an average female is allotted per day!!!

Bathing Suit Season Tip #3:

Here comes the blatantly obvious one.  Are you ready?

WORKOUT!

I’m blown away by how many people complain about being uncomfortable wearing a bathing suit, but don’t workout.  If you wanna shed the extra pounds you gotta burn ‘em off.  Get that metabolism fired up with some high-intensity interval training like you see in the FREE Workout of the Week posts.  A properly done 20 – 30 minute boot camp style workout will stoke your fat-burning furnace for the whole day.

Alright, it’s time for me to get out of here and go have some fun at the waterpark :-)

Have a great weekend!
