FREE Workout Video of the Week – 2/26/10

We had another AWESOME week in Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp.  Over a dozen new members started up with us on Monday, and they absolutely rocked it!!

As we do each Friday, we got after it hard with a 50:10 5-exercise circuit powered by Workout Muse: Boot Camp Dynamite followed by a killer finisher. This is a favorite high-intensity interval training (HIIT) format, especially for dramatically increasing endurance, boosting metabolism, and melting some serious fat!

FREE Workout Video of the Week – 2/5/10

It’s Super Bowl Weekend.  That means we’ve got to really hammer out a good workout today to fire up that metabolism to help fight off the fat.  As we do every Friday at Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp we blasted out an awesome High-intensity interval training (HIIT) 50:10 5-exercise circuit powered by Workout Muse today, followed by a killer finisher.  The energy was high and everyone rocked!

FREE Workout Video of the Week – 1/29/10

It’s been a crazy busy week, but there’s always time for a 20-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout :-)

This weekend is the Women’s Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center. I’ll be speaking all three days and will have a booth with great some great prizes and specials. Kym Johnson from Dancing with the Stars will be there, too!

I hope to see lots of readers there, but before you come make sure you crank out this 50:10 5-exercise circuit first. The 6am crowd was a little small today (gonna have to crack the whip; I mean, it was only -8 degrees ;-)

Workout Video of the Week – 1/15/10

Happy Friday!!!

Let’s go into the weekend strong with your Workout Video of the Week!

50-10 Five-Exercise Circuit powered by Workout Muse: Boot Camp Dynamite

You will alternate between 50 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest/transition for each exercise within the circuit. Perform this 5-minute circuit up to 4x for a 20-minute total body workout.

Your ultimate goal is to be able to perform at least 20-25 reps per set for each exercise or perform an isometric hold for the full duration for each exercise within the circuit. Once you accomplish this, seek to increase loading or progress to a more advanced exercise variation.

Exercise 1: Bodyweight Squat Variation
Exercise 2: Dips Variation
Exercise 3: Single-leg Bent-leg Hip Extensions
Exercise 4: Pulldown or High Row
Exercise 5: Side Pillar Variation

Workout Worldwide Charity Boot Camp Recap

Workout Worldwide Log On Saturday, January 10th at 10:00 am CST 50+ boot camps from around the world joined forces for one purpose:  TO CHANGE THE WORLD ONE WORKOUT AT A TIME.  It was the world’s largest international charity fitness boot camp workout of all time with all net proceeds going to the American Heart Association.

Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp was chosen as one of the 50+ boot camps to participate.  And, believe me, it was a real honor.  Saturday’s are always tough to committ to (especially when it’s -15 degrees), but we had 24 people make it out for the event.  Our group raised over $500 for the American Heart Association.  In total, Workout Worldwide raised over $10,000 in online ticket sales; tickets purchased at the door are still by tallied at this time.

The workout itself was AWESOME!  Participants performed a 60:15 10-Exercise Circuit as follows:

Perform each exercise for 60 seconds followed by a 15 second rest and transition for a total of 12.5 minutes.  Rest for 2 minutes and repeat for 2 more rounds totaling 41 minutes of fat busting fun!

Workout Video of the Week – 1/8/10

Let’s go into the weekend strong with your Workout Video of the Week!

50-10 Five-Exercise Circuit powered by Workout Muse:  Boot Camp Dynamite

*If you don’t have bands, get some :-) , but in the meantime do a bent-over-row with weights (dummbells, weight plates, milk jugs, etc.) or a bent-over arms exended (Y, T or I position) hold.

Back-to-School Fat Loss Transformation Challenge Winners

The Back-to-School Fat Loss Transformation Challenge

Wow!  Wow!! Wow!!!

All I can really say is, “WOW!”

For the past 9 weeks our Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp members have been competing in the Back-to-School Fat Loss Transformation Challenge to see who could make the most significant changes in their body – weight loss, inches lost, muscle development, etc.

At the beginning of the challenge each contestant took various measurements as well as pictures.  Then, for 9 weeks they gave their all in every Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp workout.  They kept detailed food journals and made every effort to stay on track with their hectic lifestyles.

On the last Friday of the challenge, each contestant submitted their measurements, pictures and nutrition journals.  I gave all of that to 3 judges (2 other fitness professionals and one super star client) that don’t know any of the contestants.

After much deliberation, they narrowed the field down to these three great competitors before making their final decision for Grand Champion:

In reverse alphabetical order by first name :-) , here they are :

  • Larae Lemon
    • LaRae is a 55 year-old mom who is the most organized contestant I’ve ever seen.  She was so dialed in.  Her journal is immaculate (typed) and she reviews her goals daily – one of which was getting Kelly Ripa arms :-)   LaRae packed on some super-sexy muscle and lost a total of 19 inches!
  • Greta Schneider
    • Greta is another mom who has been an inspiration to so many.  She’s one of the most positive and upbeat people you’ve ever met.   An inspiration to many, Greta lost 17 pounds (39 pounds since she first started Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp)!
  • Brent Dodds
    • Brent Dodds is a busy husband, father and business man.  Often away on business, he missed classes, but was with us in spirit.  Brent followed along with our online workouts and didn’t lose any ground.  Now he’s got suits that no longer fit him ;-b  Brent lost 14 pounds and 8 inches - not to mention about double those figures since he first joined the program in July!

The results these three dedicated Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp members got were awesome and inspiring.  In addition, the rest of our contestants got excellent results as well.  Most lost at least a size, some as many as 3! Inches melted away and pounds flew off.  It truly was a sight to see.

Now, on with the final results…

Our Grand Champion is LaRae Lemon!

LaRae Lemon

LaRae just exudes fitness now.  With her buff body, awesome strength and beautiful smile she lights up the room with her efforts.  She’s typically the first one to show up to class and is always helping new members get acclimated.  When I spoke with her today, she was so happy about winning, but she was more excited about being a role model.  She wants women and mom’s everywhere to know they can do the same thing she and the other contestants did.  LaRae will continue to work on her buff body (it’s going to be truly something by next summer – look out Kelly Ripa!), but now she wants to help spread the word and get more people healthy.  I love it!  That’s what it’s all about :-)

Oh yeah, by the way, LaRae is one of those members who has a previous injury (shoulder) that she trains around. We make some simple modifications for some of the exercises and she still gets a killer workout that has obviously produces killer results.

The Great Pumpkin Workout: Halloween Charity Boot Camp Part 4

Once again, I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you.

Last Friday night, our local Chanhassen, MN weight loss and fitness boot camp, Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp held its first annual Freaky Fat Loss Halloween Charity Boot Camp to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, MN.

Susan G. Komen does amazing work to raise money to support breast cancer awareness and research. We’re super-excited to help the cause. Look Great at the Lake Boot Campers and guests donated over $300 to the cause!

I’m going to change things up a little this week as far as blog posts go.  Each day I’m going to show a different circuit from Freaky Fat Loss Halloween Charity Boot Camp workout.  Consider it a free Workout of the Day…everyday.  So grab your pumpkin (med ball, dumbbell, or kettlebell) and let’s get after it!
