Are you UNBREAKABLE?

If you’ve been reading my newsletter and blog long enough, you know I’m a straight shooter.  I’m not a fan of BS.  And, today, THERE’S A LOT OF BS OUT THERE; especially, when it comes to the world of fitness.

That being said, when I say YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO DO/OWN SOMETHING, I’m totally convinced and in full belief of it.  I don’t really know how to convey that to you strongly enough in an email, but just go with it.

In life there are really only two things YOU HAVE TO DO – pay taxes and eventually die.  How cheerful.  :-)

But, in my mind there are few others that are damn high on the list.  Obviously, I believe everyone should exercise, and the facts tell us that everyone should take a multi-vitamin, but that’s not what this is about.

Today, I want to share a new program that my friend BJ Gaddour has been working all year on.  I was fortunate enough to have BJ take me through it a few months ago when I was visiting him in Milwaukee, and I gotta tell you…IT’S A LIFE CHANGER.

Method Behind the Madness – August 2010 Workouts

Method Behind the Madness – August Workouts

We have a great month of new bootcamp workouts locked and loaded for you!

As you know, we spend an inordinate amount of time researching and testing exercise variations and workout templates to best ensure that we bring the very best weight loss and fitness workouts your way each and every month.

Lots of other bootcamps simply seek to just beat you down and get you tired with no rhyme or reason behind what they do. This results in limited results and lots of unwanted injuries.

However, everything we do at Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp is based on sound exercise science and battle-tested, in the trenches real world experience.

I have always felt that it’s important to know why you’re doing what you’re doing when it comes to fitness because it helps reinforce the implementation of the necessary habits to get into the best shape of your life.

So I just wanted to take the time to briefly explain the method behind the madness of the incredible, cutting-edge interval training workouts coming your way this month – there are actually three different templates:

3 Secrets to Recover From a Muscle Injury Fast

We’re about halfway through summer, and a lot of folks are really training hard to lose weight and burn fat.

Several of my Chanhassen Boot Camp members are really getting after it 6 days a week right now!  We’ve stepped up the intensity of class and we offered another fat melting cardio blitz program for the days in between.

Needless to say the boot camp classes and the walk-run club are working wonders for our members.  However, with extra intense training comes beat up bodies and potentially injuries.

To help us with that, I’ve got another great article from Craig Ballantyne.  He’s going to share his 3 secrets to recover from a muscle injury fast.

Long-distance Steady State Cardio for Fat Loss?

More and more studies are pointing to the benefits of high-intensity interval training (HITT) for maximum fat loss.  We discussed many of them in this week’s blog posts.

That of course leads to the question, “Is there any place in a weight loss & fitness program for long-distance steady state cardio for fat loss?”

I’ve gotta imagine that after reading Monday and Wednesday’s blog posts this is definitely a pressing question of my Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp Walk-Run Club members who spend every Saturday doing long-distance steady state cardio.

Well, the answer is YES.

“Stubborn Fat Cardio”

I’ve got another late day post for you today.  Things are quite crazy (good) over here at Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp HQ.

Thanks everyone for all the warm Look Great birthday wishes.  :-)
Yesterday was a really cool day for us – 1 year since our first boot camp class!
By the way, don’t forget about the party we’re having that everyone is invited to, and of course the crazy insane birthday special we’ve got going on this week – http://tinyurl.com/HappyBirthdayBootCamp

Anyway, I just shot about a 10-minute video where I go through a brief explanation of “stubborn fat cardio” and how you can take advantage of it to burn up some extra body fat in those stubborn areas.  :-)

Watch out.  I break out the marker and draw on the dry-erase board…

Check out my fancy artwork in the video below:

4 Tips on How to Exercise in the Heat

Summer is here!

The sun is shining and it feels so good to be outside, especially for us northern folks who only get about 3 months of really nice weather per year.

As we put on our bathing suits and head for the lake we can quickly see the winter “hail damage” done to our bodies.  Yikes!  It’s so easy to gain weight in the winter and not even realize it.

So with new-found enthusiasm, we sign up for a local weight loss and fitness boot camp, subscribe to an online personal training program and/or hit the pavement for some sprint work and jogging.  We aggressively work to shed those unwanted pounds we gained since the sun shined last fall.

However, when it comes to working out outside we must use caution and be smart!

Here are 4 tips for outdoor exercise in the summer heat:
