Weight Loss Accountabilty Plan

This week I’m sharing just a few of the critical lessons Janell and I learned this past weekend in KY at the Bootcamp Bootcamp conference.  One of the cool things about being part of a group with over 100 of the best boot camp owners in the world is the tremendous amount of shared knowledge and support.  Another not so obvious benefit is the accountability.  After all, nobody wants to show up without improving there business in some way since the last time we got together.  Our boot camp in Chanhassen – Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp – has nearly tripled in membership since last Septemeber’s event!

We’ve added some killer new features like Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp ONLINE, a members’ only online forum (coming in July), and a monthly Q&A teleconference (also coming in July).  We keep innovating and looking for better and better ways to support our members and stay ahead of the competition. :-)

Being accountable to our “TEAM”, mentors and business coach are critical to our business success.  Accountability is just as critical with weight loss & fitness success…and, we rely heavily on it as well.

How do you measure weight loss & fitness success?

Ah yes.  This is such a hard topic for so many.  We’re all programmed for instant gratification.  Our whole world works that way.  Fast times.  Fast food.  Fast everything.  When was the last time you stopped and smelled the roses?  But, I digress…

When it comes to weight loss and fitness, I swear expectations are even worse.  Everyone wants results yesterday.  And, shows like The Biggest Loser really don’t make it any easier.  Viewers see that kind of weight loss and get upset when they can’t do the same – understandably.

Let’s get a couple things straight about real weight loss expectations, and then we’ll get into how we should measure success.

How to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Come True

Over the last decade, I have helped countless people maximize their overall health, performance, and body composition faster than ever before.  Put bluntly, I know how to help people lose ugly, unwanted body fat faster than most people can fathom.   Now, make no mistake about it, a big reason for this is because I make it clear to my clients that THEY NEED TO DO THE WORK.  I’ll provide the tools, but you need to use them.

I have done the countless hours of research, as well as trial and error.  I have worked with hundreds of people as real world case studies to prove that these steps flat out work.  But, today I am going to share something more powerful; something that must be set in place before you can even start to think about following a fitness program.

What do you think is the real secret behind my client success?

Forget New Year’s Resolutions – They Don’t Work

I was going to write a post today on New Year’s Resolutions, but Vic Johnson beat me to it. :-)   I respect the hell out of Vic.  He is a great mentor and personal development coach.  I really like his materials and programs.  In fact, I took his course to help me write my Ebook The Science of Getting Fit: 6 Proven Steps to Achiever Your Weight Loss & Fitness Goals.

Well, in his newsletter he featured a great article that appeared at Yahoo News and other media outlets:

Turn Your Dreams Into Your Reality

Over the past year I had the pleasure of going through Bob Proctor’s Coaching Program.  It’s an incredible 13 month personal/business development course.  A big part of it is the Mastermind Group.  I’ll go more into that in another post.  Today, I want to introduce you to a friend of mine from my mastermind group, Cheryl Maloney.  She’s created a great program call Mind Movies Studios.  She puts your goals in front of you in a unique and cool way to help you create the right mindset for success.  I’ve asked her to be a guest blogger today.

What do you want to do, be or have?

Do you know or do you just know what you don’t want?

If you believe in the Law of Attraction…and you just don’t know how to evoke what you want into your life….here is a way to get started.

Start a list…a BIG list. You do not have to know how you are going to achieve them. In fact if you do know how you are going to accomplish everything on your list you aren’t dreaming big enough. The universe doesn’t place limitations on you…so why should you?

Write down every thing that you want to accomplish in your life. If you find that you are looking at what you don’t want turn how you write your dream into a positive statement. For example, “I don’t want to be sick ” keeps your focus on illness. Change that to “I am healthy.”

As you make your dream list up write “as if.” For example if you state that, “I want to be financially abundant,” you will always be “wanting to be.” Wanting isn’t the same as being. If however you state that, “I am financially abundant” you have set up a positive existence.

Make your list. It will change over time. Prioritize it…highlight the dreams that you want to achieve first. Now keep your dreams in your field of vision with a Mind Movie.

A Mind Movie is a video vision board using the images, affirmations and music that speak to you.  Mind Movie Studios creates custom Mind Movies for you that can be played on your IPhone, Laptop, TV or just about any video output devise.  Take a look at this short Mind Movie clip to see the power in this high tech tool. (just click the video and it will take you to a separate viewing page)

Take it with you anywhere…watch it anytime you have a few minutes.  Watch it first thing in the morning and last thing at night too.  When you keep your dreams in front of you and they will come to you.  What you focus on expands…so let’s have it be your dreams!

The Law of Gender

I’ve really enjoyed discussing the Universal Laws of Success and the importance of creating a weight loss mindset over the past couple months.  While there are many Laws of the Universe, I chose to highlight six.

You can review the first five laws we discussed by clicking the links below:

The Law of Vibration

The Law of Relativity

The Law of Polarity

The Law of Rhythm

The Law of Cause and Effect

The sixth Law of the Universe that I want to discuss is the Law of Gender.

The Law of Gender decrees that all seeds have a gestation or incubation period.  It takes approximately 180 days from the time the sperm and the egg meet up until the time a baby is born.  It takes approximately 70 days for a carrot to grow.  There are numerous examples we can come up with.

But, how does the Law of Gender affect goals, and more specifically weight loss goals?

The Law of Cause and Effect (a.k.a. The Law of Attraction)

Every cause has its effect; every effect, its cause.  Whatever you send into the Universe comes back.  Action and reaction are equal and opposite.

Some call it Karma; others call it The Law of Attraction.  Ralph Waldo Emerson called The Law of Cause and Effect, The Law of Laws.  Whatever you call this Universal Law of Success know that it is the ultimate determinant of your results.

You are, of course, very interested in results, right?

Visualization Leads to Actualization

I’m going to take a slight detour from our discussion of the Universal
Laws of Success
this week.  Today’s personal development post is about
a truly powerful weight loss mindset activity.

Like I said in yesterday’s post, I had a truly awesome weekend at Boot Camp Boot Camp.  It wasn’t just all the great stuff I learned for my boot camps though.  The best part of the weekend was being surrounded by fellow boot camp business owners who were so positive and determined.  The most successful boot camp owners had a crystal clear picture in their mind of what they wanted their business to look like.

Do you have a crystal clear picture of your healthy, fit, tight & toned, damn-sexy body?

Can you see it in your mind before it moves into the physical form?

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Science of Getting Fit, that I think fits in perfectly with today’s discussion:

The Law of Rhythm

I’m really enjoying our discussion over the past few weeks of the LAWS OF THE UNIVERSEPersonal development is a favorite subject of mine, and developing a weight loss mindset is critical to weight loss and fitness success.

Today, we’re going to discuss The Law of Rhythm.

The Law of Rhythm states that everything is moving back and forth, in and out, or in natural cycles.  For example, night follows day.  The tide goes in and out.  The seasons change, but always come back.  And, good times will follow bad times – if you let them.
