Happy Birthday Pop!

It’s my old man’s birthday today!  He’s 66 years young. :-)

Please be sure to leave a HAPPY BIRTHDAY COMMENT for my dad below.  Thanks!

Anyway, I say 66 years young because he’s still in pretty good shape and my mom told me the other day that he’s really stepped it up lately.  In fact, one of his favorite things to do is go bike riding.  You know, he’s actually the one who introduced me to working out.  I’ll never forget the All American Gym in Syosset, NY.  That’s where it all started for me, unless you count the Hulkamania Workout Kit I got when I was as really young. ;-b

What is Celiac Disease?

According to the Mayo Clinic website, Celiac Disease “Is a digestive condition triggered by the consumption of the protein gluten, which is found in bread, pasta, cookies, pizza crust and many other foods containing wheat, barley or rye.  If you have celiac disease and eat foods containing gluten, a reaction occurs in your small intestine causing damage to the surface of your small intestine and an inability to absorb certain nutrients.”

“Eventually, the decreased absorption of nutrients (malabsorption) that occurs with celiac disease can cause vitamin deficiencies that deprive your brain, peripheral nervous system (PNS), bones, liver and other organs of vital nourishment.  This can lead to other illnesses and stunted growth in children.”

“No treatment can cure celiac disease. However, you can effectively manage celiac disease through changing your diet.”

Toxic Skin Care & Makeup

I’ve got a very interesting and quite shocking guest post today.

Alyce Eskew is one of my 9:30 am boot campers.  She’s an independent consultant for Arbonne International, a leader in skin care.  She’s quite knowledgeable about the subject, and being that this is a blog about looking and feeling great, I asked her to share some information with my readers.  I had no idea what I was in for.

Holy Schnikes!  As a personal trainer, I teach a lot about what we put into our bodies, but I had no idea we put so much horrible stuff ON our bodies.

FREE Boot Camp Workout Video of the Week – 4/23/10

This week’s FREE Boot Camp Workout Video is the final workout for this training phase of boot camp.  We’ve been getting after it hard & heavy with 30:30s.  Our primary focus has been on hypertrophy training (muscle growth).  We’ve selecting extra heavy weights with a goal of achieving 6 – 15 reps, and both our online boot camp members and Chanhassen boot camp members have been loving it!

Recipe of the Week

Before I jump into today’s subject, I forgot to mention yesterday that Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training for Abs DVDs are actually on sale ($100 OFF and FREE SHIPPING) until Wednesday.  Sorry about that.
————————————————————–

You can get them at http://tinyurl.com/TTabsDVD

And, don’t forget, when you click through my link, as a Thank You,

I’m giving away a copy of my ebook –

The Science of Getting Fit – and the over $200 in bonuses!
—————————————————————
A little while back one of my Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp members, Lisa, came up with a great idea.  She suggested that I ask you to submit your favorite healthy-cooking recipe and then post it on my blog.

More recently another one of my members, Tammy, asked me for a couple healthy appetizer recipes because she had a party to go.

If you’re like most of us, you’re always looking for something new to eat, but you’re not up for digging into recipe books, or you don’t even know what resources to trust.

So, first I’m going to give you two outstanding resources that Janell and I really like:

  1. The Prograde Recipe Book – for only $4.95 you get 197 great recipes!!
  2. The Healthy section of Taste of Home

Happy Birthday to Me…with a BIG Gift for YOU!

OK.  It’s for real now.  I’m officially 35 years young!

Yup, YOUNG.  Like I said yesterday, I feel great.  I’m in awesome health: physically, mentally and emotionally.  I’m stronger, faster and more fit than I’ve been in years.

I hope you enjoyed the little workout “gift” I gave you yesterday.  If you’re not ready for it yet, don’t worry; you will be when you’re older…if you continue to follow my training and nutrition advice. :-)

Birthdays tend to make you think about the years behind and the years ahead.  It’s nice to reflect on the good times of the past, but I prefer to look ahead to things not yet accomplished.  I get excited about finding and creating opportunity – making great things happen.

So many of my Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp members have been making great things happen in their lives.

Pounds are dropping.

Inches are disappearing.

Metabolisms are being ignited.

It’s just so cool to watch.

Check out what Lori Schoeberl recently said:

“I’ve been a member of Justin Yule’s Boot Camp for 2 months now and cannot say enough good things about it.  I’ve lost 12 pounds so far and have really toned up — my clothes are fitting so much better!  Everyone’s been asking me what I’ve been doing.  I’m also happier and more confident.  I’m excited that I’m setting a great example for my little girl and that this finally may be the summer that I’m not embarrassed to wear a swimsuit.  The support I receive from Justin and the other members is wonderful.  I feel like I have my own personal trainer and friends supporting me along my journey.  Justin’s workouts are quick and amazingly effective.  I highly recommend Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp to anyone — my husband and a friend of mine have also joined and love it too.  Justin’s passion for fitness is contagious and he’s truly changing lives.  He’s changed my life and I’m completely grateful to him!!!”

Happy (Almost) Birthday to Me!

Can you believe it?

The J-man is turning 35 tomorrow!

It’s all good though.  I feel great.  I am in awesome health: physically, mentally and emotionally.

I’m stronger, faster and more fit than I’ve been in years.

Things are really looking up :-)

The thing of it is, it really just all comes down to attitude.  I forget who said it (must be the old age), but, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.” SO TRUE!

This past year has been an absolute whirlwind to say the least.  I moved back to MN after a short stint back in VA.  I completed my book, The Science of Getting Fit: 6 Proven Steps to Achieve Your Weight Loss & Fitness Goals.  I launched Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp and Online Video Boot Camp.  Everyone of those accomplishments came with ginormous road blocks and hurdles.  And, I won’t even get into the personal life stuff…

But, my point is this – it’s all about your attitude.  Your attitude always determines your altitude in life. I am so happy and grateful for all the good, the bad and even the ugly that has happened in my past 34 years & 364 days – still got one day left. :-)   Everything that has happened has made me who I am today and brought me to this point in my life…this very moment where I’m typing a blog post to you – my blog reader who I’m very grateful for.

Now, because I’m so grateful to have you as a reader I’ve got a little gift for you for my birthday.  Naturally, it’s a workout – I am the boot camp guy after all :-)

The Five Factors of Fat Loss – Part 5

Traditional fitness programs isolate only one or two factors. The truth is all factors MUST be in place in order to bring about a lasting, positive physical change. If any one factor is neglected or missing, the program will fail to produce results.

This week I’m going to share the Five Factors of Fat Loss. There’s just no getting around them.  You can’t skip one.  When you incorporate all five factors, you’ll be able to take complete control over how your body looks and feels.  You’ll achieve a consistent results, and enjoy a long-term fit and healthy lifestyle.

Factor Five: Professional Assistance (HELP)

The more customized your program is for you, the better your results will be. When you combine an effective fitness program with proper nutrition, supplementation and accountability, you can make incredible changes.

It is the job of your Fitness Professional to give you the right amount and type of work for your goal and ability. However, your body is naturally driven to adapt to this workload (i.e. plateau). A plateau occurs when the body adjusts to changes in internal and/or external conditions or circumstances. Science is still unable to predict when a person will plateau, but one thing is for certain – it will happen.

Doing the same type of exercise without variation or failing to increase the challenge when your body “adapts” to the present workload, are just two examples of conditions that will steer your results to a complete halt. In order to avoid a plateau during your transformation, your Fitness Professional will make changes in your exercise routine or eating habits to help you reach the next level. The best way is not to do more of the same, but try new exercises or change the frequency, intensity, or duration of the routine.

Even though your Fitness Professional individualizes each of the components necessary to begin the journey toward your goal, it does not end there. There are many factors that may affect when and how significantly the other four components will need to be manipulated to keep you on the path to success. Your Fitness Professional will help you avoid plateaus by keeping your body in a caloric deficit (adaptation period) until you look the way you want. This can only be accomplished by following all Five Factors of Fat Loss.

As I mentioned the other day, for best results join a local or online fitness boot camp with fitness professional that specializes in fat loss, or look for a weight management program like Maximize Your Metabolism.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP!

DON’T BE TOO STUBBORN OR CHEAP EITHER ;-)

Here’s your FREE Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp Workout Video of the Week:

Exercise 1:  Squat to Overhead Press

Exercise 2:  Squat Chest Press

Exercise 3:  Single-legged Good Mornings

Happy Birthday Janell!

Happy Birthday

It’s Janell’s 28th Birthday!!

As many of you know, Janell is my girlfriend, best friend, confidant and major supporter.  It’s very fitting that this week I’m talking about inspirational figures in my life.  Janell is major inspiration to me in so many ways.  I can’t even begin to describe the support, love and faith she has given me over the past couple years, especially this last year as I completely changed courses in my life and started my boot camp programs and website.

Janell is one of the strongest people I’ve ever met.  She’s been through a lot in just a few short years; I’ve dished out quite a bit of stress for her myself :-b.  But, through all of it, she always takes the high road and knows that in the end everything will work itself out.  I think it’s that positivity and outlook on life that makes it so for her; kind of like the Law of Attraction we talked about in yesterday’s post.

For those of you who don’t know, Janell and I used to work together at Life Time Fitness.  That’s how we met.  She was one of my top trainers and eventually became my Lead Assistant Department Head – basically, she was my right hand.  She kept things running at the top notch, record setting level that the we became accustomed to when I was traveling and performing my other roles for the company.  We made one hell of a team along with my other assistants and program leads (thanks Nick, Liz, Phil, Derk and all the other previous assistants that were eventually promoted).  Who knew that our friendship, trust and faith in each other would eventually blossom into the amazing relationship we have today?  We certainly didn’t.  In fact, we still joke about how there was zero attraction between us for the first couple years we knew each other.  LOL.

Anyway, please join me in wishing her a very happy birthday by posting a comment below.  And, it also happens to be one of my Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp member’s birthday as well.  Happy birthday Cassie!

In honor of Janell’s birthday, I thought it would be fun to run a special today.

Since Janell is 28 years old today, I’m giving a 28% discount on our regular boot camp prices when you enlist for an 8-month program.

That’s a KILLER DISCOUNT on my Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp and Online Video Boot Camp programs!

If you’d like to take advantage of one of these awesome deals just shoot me an email at justin@justinyule.com and I’ll make it happen for you.

Once again, happy birthday to my inspiration and the true love of my life – Janell.
