Do! Or Do Not. There is NO TRY.

I just had the great pleasure of spending the weekend with some of the most positive and successful guys and gals in the weight loss and fitness boot camp business.  It was absolutely amazing to be surrounded by a bunch of doers who shared a common vision of running successful weight loss and fitness boot camps that truly change peoples’ lives forever.  These people aren’t trying to accomplish anything.  They’re just going out and making it happen.

You see, when you try something you already accept that it might not happen, and more than likely because of that attitude it won’t happen.

This weekend really reinforced the fact that you need to surround yourself with like-minded individuals to achieve your goals.  That holds true in business, fitness and life.  If you’re not seeing the results you want with your exercise and nutrition plan, or if you’re not even on one, then you better stop and take a look around you.  Are you surrounding yourself with doers, tryers, or worse yet, those who don’t even get in the game?

On of my favorite quotes of all time is from Yoda in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.  Watch the incredibly important video clip below:

Do.  Or do not.  There is no try.  Yoda’s words have always been a guiding light for me.  In fact, I believe they are so important that I immortalized them and will forever have them with me.  Set aside 15-minutes for this killer video.  Be sure to watch it all the way through to get the full lesson.

The Extra Degree

In my Tuesday Personal Development posts I talk about creating and maintaining a weight loss mindset.  In today’s Weekend Wisdom post, I want to share a philosophy that will help you exponentially increase your results – 212°: The Extra Degree.

Check out this short video and then come back to this post:

Raising the temperature of water by one extra degree means the difference between something that is simply very hot and something that generates enough force to power a machine – a beautiful, uncomplicated metaphor that ideally should feed our every endeavor – consistently pushing us to make the extra effort in every task we undertake.  212° serves as a forceful drill sergeant with its motivating and focused message while adhering to a scientific law – a natural law.  It reminds us that seemingly small things can make tremendous differences.

- Sam Parker & Mac Anderson, authors of 212°: The Extra Degree

It doesn’t always take tremendous changes to achieve your goals.  Often times, it’s just a slight tweak that will get you ahead.  Doing or not doing that one thing:

  • Pushing for that extra rep that makes all the difference in the set
  • Saying no to that one cookie or chip that leads to more cookies and chips
  • Giving up the daily latte so you can afford to join a local fitness boot camp

Yup; more often that not it’s that little bit of effort that determines massive progressive forward.

I’m a big fan of the 212° Philosophy.  I grabbed a copy of the book (I suggest you do as well), and also have the framed picture hanging in my office.

Let Freedom Ring!

Decleration of Independence

July 4th, 1776 – America declares its freedom

We really do live in an amazing country.  The freedoms we have are beyond incredible compared with other countries.  And, the opportunities are endless.

The 4th of July holiday marks a time for us to stop and think about how great we really have it.  It’s a time where we traditionally celebrate with friends and family at BBQs and fireworks shows.  It really is, and should be, a wonderful time.

Today’s post isn’t going to be about fitness or fat loss.  I’m not going to talk about good eating and drinking in moderation – I covered that enough yesterday.

Instead, I first want to say THANK YOU to the men and women of the armed forces who provide for our freedom everyday.  Secondly, I want to share with you an inspirational video and book I came across this week.  It’s called A Tender Warrior.

  • A Tender Warrior is not a military book. Rather it represents a collection of experience and wisdom from a perspective most of us will never have. The essence of leadership is caring about people and General Moore was and is a master in the art of caring.

“Without trust, unity and reconciliation through common goals is beyond reach and restoration. With trust, unity and restoration is within reach and preservation” –Lt. General Hal Moore

Lt. General Hal Moore is one of America’s greatest Generals and military leaders of all time. But, it’s his profound love of humanity that radiates from his soul. In this very special book, General Moore, shares five very special letters to America on the true meaning of Leadership.

A Tender Warrior Video

In A Tender Warrior, you will experience the intimate reflections on life and leadership from one of America’s greatest leaders – including 5 never before published letters by General Moore. These very special letters are supported with six engaging chapters:

In the Presence of Greatness
Sitting at the Feet of a General
Glimpse of Glory
A Deeper View of Leadership
Going Back: Leadership Redefined
A Leader’s Handwritten Note: We are all Leaders

In 1965, then Lt. Colonel Moore and 450 of his troopers leaped into the valley of death known as the Ia Drang Valley. They were quickly surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese enemies determined to kill all of the US soldiers. Under Moore’s leadership his men fought against overwhelming odds for three days and nights. The surviving enemy retreated after losing 1,000 of their men. The 1st Battalion 7th Cavalry lost 79 men. The battle was over.

28 Years later, Hal Moore would return to the Valley of Death and come face to face with his foe, General Nguyen Huu An, the very man who tried to kill him and his men a quarter of a century before. A bond was established in a single embrace and the two men became good friends.

The General’s story was made into a major motion picture called, “We Were Soldiers” starring Mel Gibson.

Pick up a copy of A Tender Warrior and share it with your friends and family.

Now on to some fireworks and fun.  Have a wonderful 4th of July!!

God Bless America!

The Strangest Secret to Fat Loss & Fitness

Earl Nightingale’s classic, The Strangest Secret, earned the 1st Gold Record for the spoken word, with sales exceeding one million copies and became the 1st recording of the spoken word to become platinum. There’s a reason. This may be one of the most powerful books you will ever read.

The Strangest Secret Book/DVD

“Reading ‘The Strangest Secret’ is one of the most important things I’ve ever done. It made me a better football player, a better husband and a better father. In many ways it changed my life.”
— Charles Tillman, Cornerback, Chicago Bears

I’ve been STUDYING this program hard for the past couple months.  It’s funny; I’ve been a fan of personal development material for many years now.  I’ve read a variety of authors and have been to multiple seminars.  I’m amazed how much of the information I’ve learned has its routes in The Strangest Secret – some things are word for word!

Without spoiling it for you, I will tell you that you’ll find invaluable information throughout the lessons – the biggest one being, “you become what you think about.”

Do you think of yourself as a healthy, fit, lean and energetic person OR
Do you think of yourself as a sick, out-of-shape, fat and lazy person?

Where you are today is a result of what you have been thinking.  If you want to change your results (lose fat, tone up, build muscle and strength, have tons of energy and live a long & fruitful life) you better start thinking that way!

YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT!

Check out this video and pick-up a copy of The Strangest Secret.

I promise, if you apply the information, it will change your life.
