Weight Loss Accountabilty Plan

This week I’m sharing just a few of the critical lessons Janell and I learned this past weekend in KY at the Bootcamp Bootcamp conference.  One of the cool things about being part of a group with over 100 of the best boot camp owners in the world is the tremendous amount of shared knowledge and support.  Another not so obvious benefit is the accountability.  After all, nobody wants to show up without improving there business in some way since the last time we got together.  Our boot camp in Chanhassen – Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp – has nearly tripled in membership since last Septemeber’s event!

We’ve added some killer new features like Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp ONLINE, a members’ only online forum (coming in July), and a monthly Q&A teleconference (also coming in July).  We keep innovating and looking for better and better ways to support our members and stay ahead of the competition. :-)

Being accountable to our “TEAM”, mentors and business coach are critical to our business success.  Accountability is just as critical with weight loss & fitness success…and, we rely heavily on it as well.

Healthy Nutrition Made Simple

Janell and I spent this past weekend with over 100 of the best weight loss & fitness boot camp owners in the nation at Bootcamp Bootcamp.  Each year we get together to learn from the best, share ideas, see what’s new and just have some good ‘ol boot camp fun!  When I started my Chanhassen boot camp – Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp – last year I promised myself that I would always stay on the cutting edge to provide my members with  the best possible service and continuously deliver life-changing results.  That’s what the Bootcamp Bootcamp weekend was all about.

One of the things that kept coming up as a “must have” is healthy nutrition made simple.  Nationwide, members that saw the best results followed a solid nutrition plan.  After all, according to The National Weight Control Registry:

89% of people who lost 30 or more pounds and kept it off for at least one year accomplished their goals through a combination of die and exercise.  In that study, only 10% succeeded using diet alone, and only 1% using exercise alone.

The Five Factors of Fat Loss – Part 2

Traditional fitness programs isolate only one or two factors. The truth is all factors MUST be in place in order to bring about a lasting, positive physical change. If any one factor is neglected or missing, the program will fail to produce results.

This week I’m going to share the Five Factors of Fat Loss. There’s just no getting around them.  You can’t skip one.  When you incorporate all five factors, you’ll be able to take complete control over how your body looks and feels.  You’ll achieve a consistent results, and enjoy a long-term fit and healthy lifestyle.

Factor Two: Sensible Supplementation

Supplementation gives your body the nutrients it needs without adding calories.  It is virtually impossible to satisfy your body’s nutritional needs with the number of calories recommended to lose fat. In addition, due to a typically busy lifestyle, it is difficult to eat perfectly every day for the rest of your life. Therefore, when following a fitness program, muscles become undernourished, causing your body to shed the muscle it can’t feed.  By supplying the body with the natural nutrients it needs without additional calories, (e.g., whole food nutrient complex), you can help satisfy all your nutritional needs for repair and growth without exceeding the amount of calories your body needs to maintain the mandatory deficit for fat loss.

The benefits of using supplements as low-calorie nutrition during an exercise program are well researched.  The daily use of a whole food nutrient complex has been found to be the most inexpensive nutritional insurance

The reason behind adding supplements to your daily meals is to supply the body with calorie-free nutrition and select, all natural compounds that have the potential to improve health, alter body composition and increase performance and metabolic rate.

The Categories and Uses of Supplements

A whole food nutrient complex is the foundation of any complete fitness program.  Additional vitamins, minerals, enzymes, essential fatty acids and antioxidants will boost your nutrient intake beyond what is available through the foods you eat. These additional nutrients allow cells to reach their potential creating the ideal environment for positive physical change. Taking other supplements before creating a nutritional foundation is like adding expensive accessories to a car that doesn’t run properly.

Altering Body Composition

It is difficult to get enough nutrients from your normal diet to support your fitness goals.  Any time there is an increase in cellular activity, as during exercise, the body increases its use of nutrients.  By supplying these nutrients without additional calories, the attempt is made to satisfy all nutrient needs for repair and growth without exceeding the amount of calories needed to sustain the mandatory deficit for fat loss.  When undernourished, the body must shed the muscle it cannot feed.

Increasing Performance and Metabolism

Specific nutrients and combinations of nutrients have been found to improve exercise performance and increase the calories burned during and after exercise. Supplying the body with calorie-free nutrients can improve performance and, therefore, assist with fat-loss and muscle-gain goals.

Sensible supplementation is highly recommended in order to supply the body with the right combination of calorie-free nutrients and compounds that have the potential to enhance performance, reduce body fat, increase muscle and improve health.  Proper supplementation creates the environment your body needs to get maximum results.

Of course, the next question becomes, “Which supplements are good?”

The answer to that is another blog post which I will get to another time.  In the meantime, you know the brands I use and trust:  Prograde Nutrition and Eniva Nutraceutics.  For my local readers who are members of Life Time Fitness, you can feel very good about their products as well.

Vitamin D: The Sunshine Vitamin

For today’s post, I thought I’d share some exceprts from Dr. Ben’s (Eniva’s Vice Chairman & Chief Medical Officer) March newsletter.  It’s perfect timing actually, since today is kind of a gloomy gray MN day…imagine that. ;-b

But, Spring is just around the corner!!  So, let’s talk about Vitamin D: “The Sunshine Vitamin.”

Vitamin D is often referred to as “The Sunshine Vitamin” because your body produces it in response to being exposed to sunlight.  You also know Vitamin D is important for helping promote healthy bones and teeth in the body through facilitating calcium absorption.  What you may not know is Vitamin D is critical to regulating over 2000 genes in the body involved in multiple areas of health.  Vitamin D plays a critical role in supporting a healthy heart, healthy cellular replication, a healthy immune system, a healthy mood and mental health [giving it another nickname, "The Feel Good Vitamin"], comfort within muscles, and even promoting healthy blood sugar levels – to name just a few!

So, what makes Vitamin D so unique in how it works?

Changing Lives – One Ounce, One Cell at a Time

“One Ounce, One Cell at a Time
- Bob Britz

Wow!  This has truly been an inspirational week.

I started off the week sharing a story of how one of my very awesome Look Great at the Lake Boot Camp members made some changes in her life to fit in fitness for her family.  Then on Tuesday I introduced you to my friend Steve, his incredible philosophy of giving, and Send Out Cards – my new favorite feel good service. :-)   Yesterday, of course, was my honey’s birthday – by the way, Janell is very appreciative of all the birthday wishes.

Today, I’m going to share with you an honorable experience I had Tuesday night.

Let me give you a little background though…

Cleanse Your Body to Lose Weight?

OK.  Bear with me, as I may be going off the reservation for some of you.

Let me start from the beginning…

Janell and I decided to have a little contest this first quarter to see who could lose the most weight (quality weight that is – not water weight, and certainly not muscle!) before our vacation at the end of March.  Now, the reality is we’re both in pretty good shape.  We’re certainly not fitness models or Greek statues, but we take pretty good care of ourselves.  Point being, this contest is going to be interesting.

One of the other things I really wanted to do was step up the care of the inside of my body.  I eat really well, but have been wanting to try a dietary cleanse and begin taking some health supplements like additional probiotics, greens and others.

I did some homework, and here’s what I came up with and what the results have been so far.

Prograde Nutrition FREE Shipping Celebration

Woohoo! The holidays are FINALLY over. For me it’s cause for celebration because everyone is looking to make a change. Positive change.

I know, unfortunately, that many people will make silly resolutions and change for a week or two and then go back to their old habits. It happens. But there’s no reason for that to be you.

And hey, you don’t have to change completely overnight. Small changes over time add up to HUGE results. They really do.

I also know you’re looking for simple solutions to make these changes easier. That’s why I love being a partner with Prograde Nutrition. They do one thing incredibly well: they make nutrition easy.

Look, supplements aren’t the end-all-be-all. You need to eat whole foods. You need nutrition from real food. And Prograde knows that. They preach it. But they also know there are gaps you need to fill. And that’s where their awesome products come in. They’ve got a very simple product line that provides the basics. They provide what you need, NOT the garbage and confusing “stacks” that many companies try and trick you into thinking you need.

This week Prograde is celebrating 2010 by offering something they’ve NEVER done before: FREE shipping on orders over $97.

This special only runs through this Friday, January 5th at 11:57pm EST so you need to hurry and place your order before you forget…before it’s too late. All the details are right here: http://justinyule.getprograde.com/specials.html

Last, thanks for being such a loyal reader. 2010 is going to be a happy and healthy year for both of us!
